It’s not just a bucket . . .

If you could meet Grace, you’d know why we need your help.

Grace is a devoted grandmother who shares one small room with her two grandchildren, eight-year-old Sipho and Patience who is four. All they have for survival is Grace’s state pension.

Grace and her two grandchildren.

Her tiny pension doesn’t stretch
far over a month for basics like rent,
electricity, and school fees . . . leaving
many days when acute hunger is all that
this little threesome knows.

And we know that Christmas will be bleak –
no joy, no excitement, no gifts. And being
close to the end of the month, no food.
With anything like an outing or a summer
holiday being totally unthinkable.

Christmas will be just another day of hardship
and going without – unless you would change
that for this little family. And perhaps
even for another poor family too?

All it would take is your donation of R500 made online here to fill one of our Salvation Army ‘Buckets of Love.

In your name – and with your donation – we will fill a useful plastic bucket with non-perishables. Items like canned vegetables and pilchards, samp and beans, rice, soya mince and soup mix, a packet of biscuits, tea, sugar, milk powder, some sweets and a jar of peanut butter would mean so much to Grace, Sipho and Patience – and other struggling families.

On whatever day your ‘Bucket of Love‘ is delivered, it will turn that day into ‘Christmas’ for families in desperate need. Your gift will arrive in the spirit of Christmas. And that’s what counts.

Daily we have ordinary South Africans suffering real poverty coming to our door. No matter how hard breadwinners try to find work, or if they do, it’s impossible to make ends meet.

And no matter how people try to cover up, they can’t hide the despair and fear in their eyes. Even the little ones try to be brave, but that’s tough when they go to bed hungry most nights.

In this season of goodwill and joy, of families and friends getting together, please will you click here now to make your donation and remember the many families who have nothing?

Because letting someone else know that they’re remembered with kind-heartedness at this special time, is certainly one of the most precious gifts of all.

What better way to celebrate your own blessings than to share with those who don’t have even the everyday blessings that most of us enjoy.
