Strategic Plan 2011 – 2016

For several months now we have embarked upon a journey in which we have been seeking the face of God in order to know His will and plan for The Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory. We are all stakeholders in this organisation into which God has called us. Sometimes we forget however that those we seek to serve; those we interact with in the wider community; those we live with; those we work with are also stakeholders in the mission and effectiveness of the Salvation Army.

In this process we have had an opportunity once again to focus on the core mission and values of The Salvation Army and to ask ourselves what God wants of us. We have deliberately sought to be as inclusive as possible and to hear as many voices as possible in shaping the process. A strategic plan is not something that is handed from top down but something that is a part of our DNA as an organisation.

  

There has been a lot of talking, now is the time for action. We truly want to see the vision accomplished as stated in the strategic plan: “The Salvation Army is a vibrant movement with people of integrity, coming alongside communities, enabling growth and transformation of the whole person through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

We pray that future generations will look back and recognise us as a people with a bold faith in the power of God and an unwavering trust in His promises. Of Abraham it is said:

“It was faith that made Abraham obey when God called him to go out to a country which God had promised to give him. He left his own country without knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11 v8

God’s promise was enough for Abraham to embark on that remarkable journey. God’s promise is enough for us too!

Friends, the journey starts here and now! I do believe that we are about to write a new page in the history of our Territory. We do not know where the journey ends and we do not know where it will take us but the adventure is beginning!

The future is bright because God who is calling us into that future is faithful and will lead us in each step along the way, so join us now as we now move forward in the direction in which God is leading us.
