This Valentine’s Day – Let Your Love Take a Leap

Yes, 2020 is a Leap Year

So ladies, if the love of your life is too shy to take action, help him out – propose! If he’s already a committed part of your twosome but the romance has flagged, he’ll love you even more for taking the initiative – take him out for his favourite food. Or create a scrumptious candle-lit dinner for two.

And you gents, help your girl in her efforts. A little nudge here, a gentle push there and hint, hint, hint. At The Salvation Army we’re never too shy to show our love and care to those who are crying out for it, from new-born babies to school-goers waiting for their exciting turn at being in love, to those who have experienced lots of life and its hardships.

All thanks to you

Thanks to your support, in our homes we can show our love and respect every day, in every way. The kind of love that reassures the heart of a fearful, bewildered child who has been cruelly treated then abandoned. The kind of love that opens its doors to a terrified mother and her little ones fleeing an abusive husband. The kind of love that understands the human frailties that can let some slip off the rails then still seek help. And to the elderly it’s the kind of love that makes them feel secure and cherished.

Even the homeless turn to us for the kind of love that offers sympathy with hot soup, bread and the gift of a blanket when the weather turns nasty.

Of course the great strength of The Salvation Army comes from the trust God has placed in us to do His work, in His name.

So this Valentine’s Day, in addition to taking advantage of the traditional good fun of a Leap Year, please remember this is also a lean year because of the country’s economic woes. And think of us who rely on your support to enable us to fulfil the role of responsible and loving carers. We can never express our gratitude sufficiently. God bless you.

PS: As you can gather, we love our work and can only repeat how much we appreciate the love, compassion and understanding that are implied with every cent of your contribution. This is indeed the lifeblood of an institution that’s been going so long and has helped so many thousands of God’s children. I hope the enclosed gift marks the place in your life for The Salvation Army.
