Salvation Army brass bands ready for Christmas

TUESDAY, 4 DECEMBER, 2018 I For immediate release

With the festive season in full swing, the well-known Salvation Army bands will be out in force in various shopping areas of the country.

However, members of the public should be sure to only give funds to Salvation Army officers in uniform carrying a locked collection box.

Major Carin Holmes, PR Secretary for the Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory, says: “Our bands are always delighted to contribute to the festivities by playing carols in shopping malls. Bands must have permission from malls to do so.

“But we no longer do house-to-house collections, so members of the public should not give money to such house-to-house collectors.

“Any suspicious activity can be reported to me on 082-994-4351, and I will direct callers to the right person,” she said.

Members of the public can also make Christmas donations directly to the Salvation Army through the following bank account:

Details of the bank account are:
Bank: First National Bank
Branch: Braamfontein
Branch code: 251905
Account name: Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal
Account number: 50540087604
Reference: Please give your name and “Christmas” as a reference.
